The Informatics Institute held a Seminar on Basic System Administration on Linux, more specifically, Ubuntu. Mr. Jed Berones, a Network Security Engineer, was tapped as the resource speaker for the said seminar.

Most SMB's and Enterprise businesses are already running Linux, and this seminar will benefit the participants by exposing them to a more stable Operating System. Participants were also provided with hand-outs and certificates of attendance. And because of the success of this event, plans are underway for future seminars.

UBUNTU FEISTY FAWN LINUX: WHAT CAN BE FREER THAN FREE?

With the luxury of having 2 personal computers at my disposal and also a recent virus crash in one of them, it left me with an option to format one of them and install an operating system again. As I'm aperson who very open to trying new things, I decided to test install a Linux installation on my whilestill having the option to go back to your traditional common operating system, or Windows as we know it.

The Management Information Team (MIT) of Surigao City together with the Research and Development Extension Program of the Surigao State College of Technology (SSCT)will conduct a three-day training also includes networking concepts and best practices using FOSS technologies dubbed "Linux Desktop Training with Networking Concepts and Best Practices".The Event will be on December 18-20,2006. According to the organizer they will be using the Ubuntu 6.06 on the event and be distributing some Cd's of Ubuntu.
